Serving Durham Since 1984
The Cherub’s Cupboard was founded in 1984 by Ted and Sandra Hickey, quickly becoming a pillar in the local community. For over 35 years, the iconic blue house in Oshawa, welcomed customers looking for Catholic devotional items and wholesome gifts for special occasions. Sadly, with Covid came many challenges and in May 2022 Ted was faced with the sale of the blue house that Cherubs had called home for all those years. The sale of the store was announced, and the final sale flyers were printed and distributed. One of those flyers landed in the hands of a local couple who felt the call to continue with the store’s mission.
Cherub’s Cupboard has always operated as a ministry, dedicated to making Christ known through all that is seen, heard, and read in our Christian faith. This mission was warmly embraced by St. Therese Parish in Courtice as part of the New Evangelization and in July 2022, Father Wojciech blessed the Cherub’s Cupboard trailer at St. Therese, marking the reopening of its doors to welcome customers once again.
Today, we proudly continue this beautiful ministry, serving the local community and parishes in the Durham Region and Peterborough Diocese. We are grateful to God for entrusting us with this work and to you, our local community, for your continued support. Thank you for being part of our story. Hope to see you soon!
